NEWS
For almost 50 years, La Bérangeraie, family property
of 35 hectares, is located on an exceptional natural site.
The hamlet of Cournou, isolated from the world and forgotten in the 1960s,
has been completely restored and revitalized, in the style of "Regain",
by three generations and soon a fourth.
Today, the many visitors who come to recharge their batteries appreciate the originality and uniqueness of its wines marked by a unique ferruginous terroir:
siderolithic.
Anxious to preserve this exceptional living environment of woods, vines, moors, hillsides and to guarantee it to our customers, the estate is the holder
double environmental certification:
TERRA VITIS and HIGH ENVIRONMENTAL VALUE.
These certified, pragmatic and realistic approaches allow us to guarantee our customers that the protection of the vineyard against diseases and pests is strictly reasoned, limited, that the products used are not:
neither carcinogenic, nor mutagenic, nor reprotoxic,
that some are bio-control products, that we respect the treatment distances from sensitive areas, that we do not reject any waste water (cellar washing or equipment washing) into the environment before having treated it , that all our waste is collected and reprocessed, that the traceability of the wines is total from the plot to the lot number on the bottle, that the doses of sulphites in the wines are very limited, that in terms of biodiversity the between rows , headlands, embankments, hedges and ditches are never weeded, that the low walls are preserved, that fruit trees and beehives are re-established ...
This year, for example, in order to help protect bees and other pollinating insects, we are going to replant around fifty butterfly trees.
on the outskirts of our vineyard as well as to establish two new flowered fallows.
Rare orchids (fly orchids and spider orchids) very present on some of our plots are protected by late mowing of the vines
after their flowering period.
To taste one of the cuvées signed La Bérangeraie is therefore also to taste a piece of unspoiled nature ...
NOTRE VISION
The story of a family…… The story of an adventure where our parents, in 1971, bought a ruin without access or water,
no electricity and decide to revive an old vineyard on the verge of oblivion. It is the year of birth of the AOC Cahors and the beginning of a life of stubbornness and convictions ...
A 36-hectare hillside vineyard over 45 years old, perched 174 meters on the Autoire Causse de Grézels… This is where the estate stands
"La Bérangeraie", a siderolithic terroir veined with red sandstone, iron stone, bauxite and clay ...
An environment for the less wild, isolated ...
a landscape of woods of moors and hillsides and a poor land cradle of the oldest vineyards of Cahors.
It is in its origins that the domain
"La Bérangeraie" draws its character, its typicity ...
Low yields (systematic thinning),
careful aging with or without barrels, manual harvests & vinifications where we intervene as little as possible ... this is all the potential of a terroir which is expressed through authentic know-how and passion for a family...
